Which Energy Saving Light Bulbs are most effective?
The advancement in lighting technologies now means that there are a spectrum of energy saving light bulbs available to purchase which can make it difficult to decide which ones are right for your application. The variations of energy saving light bulbs use different technologies, specifically, LED, Halogen and CFL all of which have varying characteristics and energy saving abilities. In this short and complete analysis I will provide a resume of the available technologies for energy saving light bulbs that is expected to enable you to make a better informed choice.
The Halogen Bulb
Halogen bulbs are deep down a high technology version of the early incandescent filament light bulb. The halogen energy saving light bulbs save as a rule 25-35% in electricity costs depending on the distinctive characteristics and have the advantage of being dimmable. The additional big benefit of halogen energy saving light bulbs is that they have small proportions and accordingly can be made to look exceptionally pleasing to the eye.
CFL Light Bulbs
The CFL energy saving light bulbs is in essence a little fluorescent tube and has fantastic efficiency saving 75-80% in electricity. As a result of the advancements in technology the present-day CFL’s do not stay dull for long following switching on and don’t flicker. The main disadvantage is that the looks of CFL energy saving light bulbs can be quite poor because of their large size ; however, there are some highly attractive globe shaped bulbs on the market. One thing is for sure and that is that the modern CFL is a considerable advancement on its predecessors.
LED Bulbs
LED’s are definitely the optimum in energy saving light bulbs. When compared to conventional light bulbs then LED’s is going to provide up to a 90% energy saving. The other benefit of LED bulbs is from an environmental point of view. Their long life, normally 30000 hours, basically means that landfill is lessened and the very low energy consumption reduces C02 emissions during electricity generation. The last aspect is the visual impression because LED energy saving light bulbs have a high technology look which it is important to take into account as part of the interior lighting scheme.
Building Homes The Flat Pack Way
Those of us lucky enough to have our own houses, often run out of space after some time. Although we could up and move to bigger places, this is usually too much of a bother, particularly if we like where we are. There is no need to do this anymore since there are green modular homes on offer which can be set up within our own yards if they are big enough. Factory homes make prefabricated buildings which are literally screwed together on site and helps with space problems for families and businesses alike.
Indeed, when someone is at home all day with the kids, they often dream of going back to work to fulfill their potential. This can be difficult, depending on the age and number of kids of course, but there is a way to satisfy their needs with a prefabricated building.
These units come in several sizes and can be used for just about anything at all. One favorite use is to put the building somewhere where the family loves to go and visit when they want to get back to nature. Camping is not for everyone ant the added comfort of having four walls and a roof surely encourages everyone to go off and have fun somewhere very beautiful. Hiking is great especially when there is a fully furnished house to come back to with all mod cons as well!

Even a business can be started from one of these handy little houses since they can be placed near to the main residence. Some ideas for this include day care facilities or child minding where the kids have somewhere to play out of the bad weather. Or perhaps the mom wants to start-up some kind of office services work which she can do right from her back yard. Even dad can join in with an office away from the office too and there is always room for those unexpected visitors who turn up unannounced.
What a lot of people do with these great buildings is to house spas and such in them. Imagine having a full gym in the garden complete with Jacuzzi and hot tub? No excuses for not getting out there and getting on with the exercise routine any more.
Children too are catered for since these are ideal places for kids to get on with their homework or hobbies while leaving the house for the grownups. The parents can keep an eye on the kids but allow them some freedom within the boundaries of the garden which shows that they can be trusted.
There are many models on offer and it is down to personal taste what the buyers want. Once the design has been chosen, and these can be altered to fit in with what the buyer wants, then the whole thing is delivered in a flat pack directly to where it is to be erected. They are normally easy enough to erect by the novice, but for those who are a little overwhelmed, contractors are more than willing to undertake this work at short notice.

Best Energy Saving Tips
We all like to save money and try and be more environmentally friendly. Here are a few energy saving tips, most of which you can do right now.
Leaving electrical appliances on can add 10% to your homes energy bill this could amount to around 50 pounds a year. If you turn your appliances off at the plug socket you can save money and reduce your carbon emissions by about 140kg a year.
If you replace standard light bulbs with energy savers you can save around 40-50 pounds per light bulb. So if you have 10 light bulbs in your home you could save up to 500 pounds, they also last 10 times longer which is a bonus.
In the winter it can be tempting to turn the thermostat on full blast, but if you turn the heating down by just 1.5C you could save as much as 10% on your heating bills, which can amount to quite a lot money saved over a lifetime.
Heating water is expensive. Showers only use 20% of the water that baths do which means you can save lots of money on heating and use far less water at the same time.

In the winter when it is cold and windy draughts can be a real pain. You can easily and cheaply prevent draughts by installing a PVC seal around doors and letterboxes. This can help reduce heating bills especially if you have an old wooden door.
The Energy Saving Trust is an independent body whose main purpose is to reduce carbon emissions and promote greener living. When you buy new electrical appliances look out for the Energy Saving Trust sticker as they will likely be the most energy efficient products.
If you own a boiler which is more than 12 years old it may well be a G rated boiler. This means it is probably less than 70% energy efficient. And in terms of your pocket you are losing 30% of the energy it is producing which is obviously a waste. By law all new gas boilers must be high energy efficient condensing boilers unless it is too expensive or difficult to fit one. Most new A-rated high energy efficient boilers are over 90% efficient which means you save money on your bills and waste less energy. You can also buy an insulation jacket for your gas boiler which can save you around 35 pounds a year and only cost a few pounds to buy.
When you are washing your clothes if you reduce the setting from 60C down to 40C you can save 30% of the energy used. Washing machines use most of their energy to heat the water and modern washing powders work perfectly fine at lower temperatures also the materials on your clothes will not be as stressed at lower temperatures.
Being more eco-friendly can save you money on your heating bills and help you cut your carbon emissions.
What’s the Point of Energy Saving Posters?
Images of all forms have a specific purpose which is usually to express the creator’s emotions, feelings or ideas about a certain occurrence in a powerful way without the use of many words.
From grey-scale photography to large scale commercial painting; from drawing with chalks and crumbling stones to creating 3D computer generated graphics, images have been one of the most effective ways of conveying a message – even from the time of the Pharaohs in Egypt.
Modern artists and expressionists have taken the next step and have begun using varieties of methods combined to deliver the message they intend. They focus on recent phenomena that affect themselves, their local community, their country, or even the entire world. The most famous example of such a phenomenon is indeed the global warming effect.
Energy saving posters are a clever way that artists are implementing to spread the word of conserving natural energy sources. This is becoming more and more popular as the awareness of global climate change continues to inflame at a rapid rate.

Energy saving posters usually depict graphic imagery that is designed to impact the reader or present an eye-opening fact. For example, posters may depict a certain endangered species carrying out an energy conserving task that can help reduce the dangerous effects of global climate change for the entire world.
Green posters are aimed at illustrating the importance, need, and benefits to the entire world of doing some very simple and basic things around the house, at work, or even at school.
They do so by including short, succinct and clever slogans that increase the impact that the poster has on the viewer so that he or she gains inspiration to act towards saving energy.
Energy saving posters are just one way of doing what environmentalists and scientists are trying to do – get us to save energy where ever we can, however we can! This is why the posters are aimed at reminding us to pay attention to conserving energy, and to carry out energy saving tasks to the best of our ability.
Such energy saving actions include turning off switches in rooms that we do not use, shut down and unplug electronic appliances after use, fix air leaks, reduce our energy use and stop wasting energy.
Even though there are many varieties of posters out there, there is no doubt that the post popular and the most effective are those that illustrate pets telling their owners that they should be taking a certain action.
This is why artists are now focusing their time, energy and talent on creating images that include catchy slogans for people to see and take action upon.
Modular Homes Fit So Many Uses
Anyone who has bought their own house at some time in the past will have bought only what they could afford at that time. It stands to reason that when the family begins to get larger, space may be at a premium and it may be time to consider moving to a larger place. However, there is also an answer in factory homes where prefabricated buildings are on offer which can be built on the same compound. In fact, green modular homes give extra space where it is needed but without damaging the environment.
There may be many reasons why people need some extra space of course, some being that extra bedrooms are needed for when visitors come to stay. Or it may be that the children are now too old to be sharing rooms so finding a new building where perhaps teenagers can get away from the parents is a good idea. Indeed, this is a great way to get teenagers to learn how to be independent but still be under the protection of their parents at the same time.
]]>
We all know how noisy teenagers can be as well so this is a good time to let them freak out as they want but be within reach of the parents who can dampen them down a bit if things get out of hand.
Putting up one of these places at another venue is also a good way to have a retreat for those times when life is becoming a little over worked. Indeed, this is also a good time to consider renting it out when the family is not in residence. Not only does this create another revenue stream, it also provides some good security for the place when people are around all the time.
But the old folks at home can also make good use of this extra space too. Many people who have worked for a number of years will want to maybe write a book or do some research on their favorite hobby. These places are great for small libraries or for banks of computers so that more than one person can do some research but this would also be a great area for the kids to get on with their homework too. Lining the walls with maps and pictures of venues around the world will surely get their minds thinking on foreign climes and what they can do to help the environment at a very young age.
Finally, although these are complete buildings, they do come in such a form that they can be erected even by the amateur do-it-yourself expert. A screwdriver and an inquiring mind is all it takes as long as the foundations have already been set in. Making sure that the piping work is in place for any extra additions, like a hot tub or whirlpool bath etc is very important in the planning stage so letting the manufacturer know this up front is very important. Getting in a contractor may also be an idea if the additional pipe work is a little complicated.
